Future Physiotherapists Meet Engineering Students: Exercise is Essential for Healthy Working Life

On Wednesday, May 21, 2025, students from the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation delivered an informative presentation to civil engineering students with the aim of raising awareness about potential physical challenges they may face in their professional careers. The event focused on the importance of ergonomic work habits and regular exercise.

During the presentation, the physiotherapy students introduced basic exercises designed to help prevent future musculoskeletal issues such as lower back, neck, and joint pain, particularly for engineers who will work long hours on construction sites or in office settings. The session was conducted interactively, featuring hands-on demonstrations and active participation from attendees.

By showcasing simple yet effective exercises that can easily be incorporated into daily routines, physiotherapy students provided aspiring engineers—who have not yet entered professional life—with valuable early guidance on maintaining musculoskeletal health. Additionally, the session addressed key topics such as ergonomic posture, safe lifting techniques, and important considerations for prolonged desk work.

Civil engineering students expressed their appreciation for such interdisciplinary events, noting the benefits of adopting a health-centered perspective in their future profession. The event concluded with a fruitful exchange of knowledge between the students from both departments, laying the groundwork for potential collaborations in the future.

This meaningful gathering served as a compelling example of how students from different academic disciplines can come together to contribute to each other’s professional development.
