Contribution to Public Health from Physiotherapy Students: Ergonomics and Exercise Training for Long-Distance Drivers
Students from the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation at Süleyman Demirel University Faculty of Health Sciences organized a meaningful event as part of their community service practices. In collaboration with a local transportation company based in Isparta, they provided ergonomics and exercise training to long-distance drivers.
During the event, students conducted individual interviews with drivers who are at risk of occupational diseases due to prolonged sitting and repetitive movements. They demonstrated basic exercises aimed at protecting the musculoskeletal system and provided information on correct sitting posture, postural awareness, and simple exercises that can be performed during breaks.
Supervised by academic staff from the Department of Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation Ass. Dr. Merve KARAPINAR, the event not only promoted preventive rehabilitation practices but also contributed to the development of students’ professional communication skills.
This initiative emphasized the active role of physiotherapists in protecting public health and was designed to help drivers sustain their professional lives in a healthier manner. The activity aimed to raise awareness about sleep quality, body mechanics, and reducing occupational risks, once again highlighting the principle that “health comes with movement.”
Physiotherapy heals, movement liberates!
