Faculty of Health Sciences Physiotherapy and Rehabilitation

 Physiotherapy, a dynamic branch of healthcare science which is predominantly concerned with assessing, treating or preventing pre- or post-natal physical impairments, limited functional capacities, any kind of injuries, ailments, aches of approaching old age, pain and functional impairments causing movement disorders by using evaluation methods peculiar to the physiotherapy in the wake of the diagnosis of a specialist doctor, is a profession which has crucial roles as regards building skills for proficiency in designing and practicing the treatment approaches, many of which have been developed by the physiotherapists all over the world, increasing quality of life and health together with gaining or promoting the independence during the daily life from a psycho-social and professional point of view. Our department, which first started its education in 2002-2003 academic year, is affiliated to Suleyman Demirel University Health Sciences Faculty and offers undergraduate programs. The education language of our department is Turkish. The students are admitted based on their quantitative scores they got in the Student Selection and Placement Examination. Graduate program of our department has been devised in accordance with those of many national and international school of physiotherapy. In addition to the vocational training courses which are dedicated to the determination and the application of the treatment program with respect to the movement-system disorders through the appropriate evaluation methods, basic and clinical sciences are offered thanks to the considerable contribution of the instructors lecturing in various disciplines of the Faculty of Medicine. Only a small portion of the vocational training courses is theoretical, but practical. Since our university possesses its own Research and Application Hospital, practical training is also available. Moreover, clinical application is obligatory for the senior students studying in our department. Because, it enables our students to perform their practical training in various clinics in rotation throughout the year. Our students can also perform their practical training in different cities and health organizations as their summer training. Our department has various units such as orthopedics, neurology, neurosurgery, pediatric rehabilitation etc. and studies for other types of units still continue. There are 2 associate professors, 2 assistant professors and 6 research assistant in our department. 68 courses are taught in the department.These lessons are composed of basic sciences and the specialization information. These courses are practical and theoretical. Who had succeed all lessons in education program have Bachelor's degree.And can work as a physiotherapists in private and official institutions. Physiotherapists, who have a Bachelor's degree in physiotherapy branch, both can work in all areas about physiotherapy and also can have postgraduate education in different universities.
